You can gain meaningful insight into your own depths by pulling a single tarot card. As oppose to a multiple-card reading, a single tarot draw clears up the spirits’ message, leaving less room to twist the message to suit your most convenient narrative. Deeply connecting with the symbolism in a single card draw strengthens your intuitive relationship with the cards and your connection to the entire deck. When you take time to understand how a single card is in dialogue with the 77 others, you begin to see cycles and patterns unfold in your readings. Before you try a one card draw, take time to clear your deck. I like to spread the cards out on my floor and mix them together, like a kid playing in a sandbox. Then, shuffle with your question clear in your mind. I always know I am ready to draw when I have meditated on the question so deeply that I feel threads of intuitive energy flow down my fingers and into the deck, although the sensation might be different for different readers. When selecting a card, listen to your instinct. You might want to take a card from the top of the stack, pull the next card the following day, and so on until you make your way through the entire stack. Or you might start this process and then choose to disrupt it, pulling from the center of the deck instead. Whatever you decide is the correct choice.

When it comes to making more money, manifestation can help. And it begins with how you handle your cash, as well as how you "see" money in your life. This ritual doesn't take the place of prudent financial planning, but it can definitely shift your beliefs around money, and just may attract more into your life. Tap into the law of abundance with this law of abundance technique. Several years ago, I found myself scouring Shopstyle in search of the perfect wallet. This "perfect wallet" was different than ones I would have looked for in the past: I was looking for one that was red, gold, or green, three colors that would make my wallet a money magnet. I had learned about this theory from my friend Gala Darling, and as an entrepreneur living in expensive NYC, I felt I needed to give it a go. It took another year or so for me to find a red wallet that also fit my personal style—one by Philip Lim that was even embossed with a subtle dollar sign. Flawless! Whether it’s played any role in my never missing a rent check for the past few years, I can’t really say. But what I do know is that a recent Skype meeting with a woman known as The Modern Money Witch (a.k.a. Lara-Rose Duong) took the concept of using your wallet to actively attract cash to a whole new level. According to Lara-Rose, love is money. It's the grown-up symbol for the nurturing (food, shelter, hugs) we receive as love when we’re babies. Step one in Lara-Rose’s system for receiving more money in your life is to create an actual abundance altar in your wallet. Fun!

I used to compare myself to people I admired. People who seemed to be doing everything I dreamed of doing — writing, leading retreats, speaking, traveling the world, and using their skills, experience and gifts to make a real contribution to others. Can you relate? If so, you know how miserable it can make you feel. I wanted what they had, and I felt like if only I had more skills, resources, money, experience, and connections, then maybe it would be my turn. Maybe I would have my big break. For years, I felt off track and behind. I felt like they were successful and I was always on the outside looking in. It wasn’t just in my career, but my judgment also affected my personal relationships. I’d secretly be jealous of my friends who were getting married. I wondered why I was still single and in my midthirties. I thought there must be something wrong with me. But this toxic war in my head ceased when I got honest with myself. I realized the core of my comparison was I didn’t feel good enough. Want 2018 to be the best year ever? Start prepping now with your 2018 horoscope! I didn’t think anyone would care about what I had to share, and I worried about people judging me. At the foundation of my insecurity was the belief that I was unlovable and unworthy of my desires. The things we believe and think about ourselves affect our entire life. I realized by focusing on what I lacked or didn’t appreciate, I was preventing myself from moving forward. I shifted my perspective and realized just because I wasn’t as far along in my career didn’t mean that my life and my work were any less meaningful or fulfilling. My problem wasn’t that I was off track and behind; it was that I wasn’t appreciating what was going well. The way I was defining success was what was making me feel off track in life. Society will tell us true success is a certain number in the bank, or more followers, the home we have, or certain benchmarks in our life and career, but all of this is external. None of this actually makes us happy. Sure we get the raise, the soul mate, the award, but then we quickly move on to the next thing. The happiness we are seeking in success is fleeting. The pivotal moment for me was when I sat down and redefined success. To me it is about growing, learning, and being your authentic self. Being able to do what you love for a living and making a contribution to others.
